2-on-2 Revolution: Rondo's Rules

Must See Basketball Videos

Teamwork matters, and it's never more apparent than in the Red Bull 2-on-2 Revolution tournament.

The tournament stops in five cities—Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.—over five summer weekends. Starting with 32 teams in each city, the competition is single-elimination 2-on-2 basketball, and the winners receive $2,000 in cash.

In the tournament, teams play by "Rajon Rondo’s rules"  just to add a twist. Here's the scoring system:

  • 3 points for dunking on an opponent’s head
  • 3 points for blocking a dunk or pinning a shot to the backboard
  • 3 points for making a defender fall
  • 3 points for stripping the ball from the offensive player

In Boston, locals Rob Adams and Jared Hite took home the cash, outscoring opponents by 61 points over five games, while in New York, Kenny Satterfield switched teammates several times before playing with former Iona star Nakiea Miller. They completely dominated the competition with their ability to score inside and outside.

If you've got game, consider signing up for one of the remaining three dates [July 31—Philadelphia; August 7—Baltimore; and August 21—Washington, D.C.], or keep it in the back of your mind for next year. For more info, go to dimemag.com.

To get a head start on racking up wins, check out STACK TV's Basketball Channel, which features video of great D work like Brandon Roy's Lateral Shuffle with Resistance Bands. Take advantage of every opportunity to improve, and start by treating every practice as a game. You might just win a tournament like the Red Bull 2-on-2 Revolution. $2K anyone?
