During his post-Super Bowl whirlwind of greeting fans and talking to the press, yesterday, Feb. 9, New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck took the time to stop by a midtown NYC Subway, where he made and served free sandwiches to a hungry—and star-struck—lunch crowd. Tuck joined the Subway "Famous Fan" club last spring, along with New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram.
In celebration of Subway's "FebruANY" month—all footlongs are $5 through Feb. 29—Tuck arrived in a suit and tie and proceeded to cheerfully greet customers and sign jerseys. He was joined by Subway's Footlong Nation Mobile Tour.
Tuck spoke about the vital role that healthy nutrition plays for him: "As an athlete, it's very important to eat healthy. We look at our bodies kind of like high performance cars...that you don't want to take for granted...you wanna put the right gasoline in them. [Eating right] is something that I think sets apart good athletes from great ones." And for Tuck, that includes fueling right at Subway.
