Bellator 60 Kicks Off Sixth Season of Intense Tournament-Style MMA

March 9, 2012 | The Last Ronin

Bellator 60
Bellator kicks off its sixth season today, March 9, with Bellator 60 on MTV2. With an abundance of young talent and an exciting tournament structure, Bellator is definitely worth your time.

The action starts at 8 p.m. EST on MTV2 and Epix, beginning with the Featherweight World Championship Tournament. Here's how the night will go down:

  • Marlon Sandro vs. Roberto Vargas
  • Ronnie Mann vs. Mike Corey
  • Alexandre Bezerra vs. Genair da Silva
  • Daniel Straus vs. Jeremy Spoon
  • Pat Curran vs. Joe Warren

The headline fight features two strong featherweights in Curran and Warren. Curran has been involved in MMA for quite awhile, and he pulled off some key victories last year. Warren currently holds the featherweight belt. This could be the fight of the night, with the winner having a good chance to move on to the UFC, which is trying to build up its featherweight division.

As the largest MMA promoter based on a tournament structure, Bellator draws a lot of interest from fans looking for a "true" champion—one who earned a title shot based on results rather than name recognition. If you haven't followed tournament-style MMA in the past, tonight is your chance to find out how rewarding a season can be when you watch from the beginning.
