After teasing us with bits and pieces of his new track throughout the past week, Lupe Fiasco has now released the full audio for "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)." The tune samples the classic Pete Rock tune "T.R.O.Y. (They Reminisce Over You)" and features some smooth ramblings you might find appropriate for your cooldown playlist.
Controversy now surrounds "Around My Way." Pete Rock took issue with the beats Fiasco sampled from his track. All we know is that the resulting song features a great throwback sound, an impressive hook and strong social commentary.
"Around My Way" is the new track from Fiasco's upcoming album, Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Part I, which will be released Sept. 26. While discussing the tune with reporters, Fiasco gave an update on his new projects, saying, "It's a double album. We're probably 80 percent finished with Part II, which is going to come out a little later."
