The Coolest Thing You’ll See Today: Gold Medal Gymnast McKayla Maroney’s Vault in Super Slow Motion

August 1, 2012

American gymnast McKayla Maroney vault.

We wish we could provide proper instruction and key coaching points for McKayla Maroney’s nearly perfectly executed, turbo-charged Amanar vault, which helped spring the American women’s gymnastics squad to its first gold medal since 1996. Instead, we’re left marveling in awe as we watch Maroney’s spectacular vault in super-slow motion. It is one of the most mesmerizing moments of the 2012 Olympic Games thus far.

Said Team USA coach John Geddert: “They should rename the vault. They should call it the ‘Maroney,’ because it’s a different league. She does it so much higher and faster and cleaner and more dynamic than the normal human.”
