NBA 2K13, available Oct. 2, will include a full NBA All-Star Weekend (offered as a free DLC with a pre-order) as well as a playable 1992 Dream Team. Executive Producer Jay-Z influenced everything from the game's menu design to the soundtrack, and fans seem to be as excited about these new additions as they are about the legendary teams and players included in the game.
2K Sports has released an image of Allen Iverson, who makes his first NBA 2K appearance as a legendary player with the 2000-2001 Philadelphia 76ers. He joins Shaquille O'Neal, Shawn Kemp, and many others in this year's edition.
If AI hadn't been included this year, he would be at the top of our most-wanted list. But that got us thinking. Which players do we wish were included in 2K13?
Here are our top five:
(2006-2007 Houston Rockets)
Gone too soon, Yao Ming dominated the NBA when he wasn't injured. From 2005 to 2008, he averaged over 20 points and nine or more rebounds a game. Give us the '06-'07 Rockets, when Yao averaged a career-best 25 ppg.
(1994-1995 Indiana Pacers)
We're way overdue—way overdue—for Miller, in his prime, taking on the Knicks at MSG with Spike Lee heckling him from the front row.
(1996-1997 Minnesota Timberwolves)
Marbury put up 16 points and eight assists per game as a rookie playing alongside Kevin Garnett. Revisiting the parallel universe where they finished their careers in Minnesota would be fun.
(1994-1995 Detroit Pistons)
Hill is still active, having signed with the Clippers this past off-season, but his first few years in Detroit were special. He averaged 20 points, six rebounds and five assists per game as a rookie. We'd want to include him if only for the weird, turquoise Pistons logo.
(1999-2000 Toronto Raptors)
Sure, Carter is also still playing (he's with the Mavericks), but he was never better than he was in Toronto. With the inclusion of NBA All-Star Weekend, it would be great to replicate the greatest Sprite Slam Dunk Contest performance of all time. Bonus: Tracy McGrady from the Raptors getting paired with Carter in his prime.
