Samsung Anounces Galaxy SIII Mini
For years, mobile phone makers looked for ways to reduce the overall size and profile of their devices. At first, smaller devices were more desirable, since they fit easily inside pockets, purses and bags. But now, larger phones are beginning to make a comeback.
Since most phone displays cover the entire front face of the device, bigger now means better. But how big is too big? The Samsung Galaxy SIII is one of the most popular iPhone alternatives, and it comes with a nearly 5-inch screen display and powerful internal hardware. However, some think five inches is just too large for a phone screen.
The phone’s size makes it awkward to hold and difficult to use on the go. So, in response to such complaints, Samsung created a smaller version of the phone, the Galaxy SIII Mini, with a 4-inch screen and a resolution of 800 by 480, making it a standard definition phone.
The Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini sets the stage for the release of the SIV, a model scheduled for February of next year. (Read the full article here: Samsung Galaxy S4 Arrives February 2013.) Working tirelessly to capitalize on Apple’s failings, Samsung will try to leapfrog its competitor with improved hardware and more desirable features. Samsung is directly targeting the recently released iPhone 5, and its new phone will have near field communications, which allows the phone to make contactless payments. A user can hold the phone in front of a sensor to make a purchase, instead of using a credit card.
