Sony officially announced the release date for their new video game, MLB 13: The Show. This highly anticipated game will be available this coming March 5. What's more, Sony is giving fans the chance to select the cover athlete via an online vote.

Miguel Bautista, Miguel Cabrera (check out Miggy's Triple Crown infographic), Buster Posey, Andrew McCutchen and Matt Kemp have already started campaigns to earn fans' votes. Is another Major League star your first choice? Don't worry; the company plans to nominate more players before the cover athlete is selected.

MLB 13: The Show will be available for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Although limited information is available, many predict it will outperform previous versions (check out our review of MLB 12: The Show). In addition to featuring a redesigned beginner's mode and a new playoff mode, Sony has promised an upgraded stadium for a heightened gaming experience.

Sony has timed the game's release with the start of spring training.
