According to the latest UFC 360 issue, UFC's reality TV show, The Ultimate Fighter, will kick off its 17th season Jan. 22 at 9:00 p.m. ET on FX. (Check out STACK's MMA Guide.)
The reality show's contestants are aspiring UFC fighters, who battle it out all season for a chance to earn a contract with the promotion. This season, UFC competitors Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen will coach, train and mentor the fighters.

At present, the show's featured weight divisions remain unconfirmed; however, given that Jon Jones is the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and Chael Sonnen also competes in that weight class, it is likely that Light Heavyweights will compete in the show.
The Ultimate Fighter's first 14 seasons aired on Spike TV, but the show moved to FX in 2011. The first season was a success for the company. The coaches during the first season were legendary fighters Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell. They were responsible for bringing Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar into the MMA spotlight.
