Want to watch the world's best skiers and snowboarders? If a trip to Breckenridge, Colorado isn't into your future, tune into NBC this weekend for the 2012 Dew Tour iON Mountain Championships. New this winter is the Ski and Snowboard Big Air Event, in which athletes like Shaun White, Louie Vito and Kelly Clark will compete, performing  their best tricks on one massive jump.

"[This] is one of the premier skiing and snowboarding competitions this winter," says rookie X Games silver medalist Nick Goepper, "It means the world to compete at such a high level event, since the iON Mountain Championships attracts elite skiing and snowboarding athletes from all over the world."

Goepper is one competitor to keep an eye on this year. In his first season, the skier racked up podium finishes in all three stops of the Winter Dew Tour, a silver medal at the Winter X Games in Aspen, and a second-place finish in the world in Men’s Slopestyle. We chatted with Goepper before he headed off to compete, and he took us through his thought process before performing at the iON Mountain Championships.

STACK: What are you looking forward to most?

Goepper: I look forward to landing my runs in front of the crowd. I also look forward to all the stoked fans and people cheering.

STACK: On the flip side, is there anything making you nervous?

Goepper: The only thing in that regard would be the weather. But it looks like we are going to have pristine weather for this contest, so there is nothing else to worry about.

STACK: What do you think is your greatest strength or skill in this competition?

Goepper: I would say my ability to land my runs top to bottom. Also, the amount of time I spent on my skis this summer. I worked really hard and got some good practice in for this winter.

STACK: What’s your game plan going into an event?

Goepper: I keep a good mental mindset, make sure my body is feeling good, make sure my equipment is tuned and then I'm off.
