The Best Sneakers to Rock During the Holidays

December 17, 2012

Must See Entertainment and Style Videos

The holidays are upon us. Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanza, New Year's Eve and Wear a Onesie to Work Day (fine, that last one isn't real yet, but we're working on it) are in full swing. It's a time to assemble the family, both close and distant, exchange gifts and look dashing at all those holiday parties to which you're expected to bring a side dish. What better way to dress your best than by keeping your feet looking fresh? Maybe you want to impress your co-workers. Maybe you've got a weird attraction to your third cousin. We're not judging, we just want to make sure you know about the best new kicks for this holiday season.

Air Jordan IV "Thunder"

Air Jordan IV Thunder - STACK

Release Date: Dec. 22
Price: $160

Air Jordan has been killing it all year with its retro sneakers, especially the IV. Jordan Brand ends the year on a high note with the "Thunder" colorway of the IV, a black shoe with glaring shocks of yellow throughout. Since they haven't been seen since 2006, these will fly off the shelves, so act quick.

adidas D Rose 3 "Nightmare"

D Rose 3 Nightmare

Release Date: Dec. 24
Price: $180

Year three of the Derrick Rose/adidas joint venture has brought a new shoe with some bold colorways, and the "Nightmare" design is no different. In keeping with the Tim Burton classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas, the shoe has a haunting feel to it, kind of like the feeling you get the night before you have to face Derrick Rose. This might just be the best colorway of the D Rose 3 yet.

Reebok Twilight Zone Pump

Reebok Pump Twilight Zone

Release Date: Dec. 24
Price: $120

We gave you the rundown on these bad boys, so make sure to grab them on Christmas Eve before Santa comes tumbling down your chimney.

KD V "Christmas"

KD V Christmas

Release Date: Dec. 26
Price: $115

Kevin Durant drops off a Christmas-themed version of his latest sneaker, featuring a pixelated design that reflects the 24-year-old's love of video games. The color combination of red, neon, blue and purple is a little extreme, but if you feel comfortable walking around in these, your relatives are guaranteed to be staring at your feet all night, muttering something about simpler times when all shoes were gray or black. Durant will debut these on Christmas day when the Thunder take on the Heat.

Zoom Kobe 8 "Christmas"

Zoome Kobe 8 Christmas

Release Date: Dec. 26
Price: $150

The Zoom Kobe 8 also gets the Christmas treatment, and it might be even louder than Durant's. The upper resembles a stained glass window, accented by the neon. Throw in a dash of orange for the swoosh and you have yourself one extremely stylish shoe. Think they'll let you wear these to church Christmas morning? They totally will.

LeBron X "Christmas"

LeBron X Christmas

Release Date: Dec. 26
Price: $180

KD has one. Kobe has one. So you know it's only right that LeBron has one too. The Christmas version of the LeBron X is a bit tamer than those of his superstar counterparts, but it stands out nonetheless. An all-red upper bounces off the bright green of the swoosh and the laces, making this shoe perfect to throw on your feet as you fly out of bed to open that first present. Who says you can't be fresh at 8 a.m.?

Air Jordan 1 Retro

Air Jordan Retro

Release Date: Dec. 31
Price:
$130

It's New Year's Eve. The ball is dropping in twenty seconds. You're looking around the room for that special someone to plant a big old end-of-the-year kiss on. If you're wearing a pair of beat-up loafers, you'll getting slapped for even trying. But if you are wearing the retro version of the first Air Jordans ever made, in the original colors, you'll suddenly become the sun, pulling the surrounding planets into orbit around you. By planets, we mean attractive people, of course.
