7 Ways to Wait for the BCS National Championship Game

December 18, 2012

Must See Football Videos

In two years, college football will finally have a real playoff system. Until then, we're stuck with the five-week break between conference championships and BCS National Championship Game. There's lots of time to kill between now and the kickoff between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Alabama Crimson Tide on Jan. 7. Here's a quick list of seven things you can do while you wait:

Train Like Te'o

ND linebacker Manti Te'o could have been only the second defensive player ever to win the Heisman, and he's a lock to be a top-five pick in next year's NFL Draft. If you play LB, check out our Linebacker page to learn how the best backers in football prepare for battle.

Improve Your Reads

Alabama Crimson Tide QB AJ McCarron has a chance to win back-to-back BCS National Championships if the Tide can defeat the Irish. Read up on weight room workouts and skill training designed just for quarterbacks at our landing page for QBs.

Catch Up on Conference Relocation

Louisville is going to the ACC. Rutgers is going to the B1G with Maryland. Do your best to keep track.

Get Better at DB

It's tough to play effective secondary defense when officials at all levels are cracking down on player safety. Try these three DB drills from STACK Expert John Cissik to get faster on the corner.

Speculate on the Irish Uniforms

Although we doubt the Irish would trade their iconic look for a limited-edition design in the school's first BCS National Championship game, we also never believed that Notre Dame would go for a one-off uniform during the regular season. And then this happened. The school is sponsored by adidas, and the brand has done a nice job with special-edition uniforms this year, especially for Nebraska and Wisconsin. So anything's possible.

Lift Like Trent Richardson

The Tide have one of the deepest backfields in college football. Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon have been spectacular. Last year, professional battering ram Trent Richardson won a ring with the Tide, and now he's a standout rookie for the Cleveland Browns. He'll be pulling for Alabama. While you wait for the game, get a look at some key movements in Richardson's workout. Then, watch him break down his epic 76-yard TD run for the Crimson Tide in our Behind the Highlights series.

Watch Notre Dame Under the Lights

Last season, the Irish played Michigan in the first night game in the history of the Big House. We were there to capture some incredible footage.

How are you going to spend the time between now and the BCS National Championship game? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter.
