Paramount has released the latest trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
The clip, which lasts nearly two minutes, kicks off with an introduction from Dwayne Johnson, then jumps right into the action. In this sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, COBRA has infiltrated the U.S. government and aims to reshape the world. It will be up to the Joes, led by Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis, and Ray Park's Snake Eyes, to save the world.
In Retaliation, we lose several characters from the original, including funny man Marlon Wayans' Ripcord, Rachel Nichols' Scarlett, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Cobra Commander. The francise is also changing directors—from Stephen Sommers to Jon M. Chu, best known for his Step Up movies.
The movie was slated to be released this past summer, but was postponed for a number of reasons, including the addition of 3D and the need to change some scenes featuring Channing Tatum's character Duke. The screenplay initially called for Duke to be killed off early in the movie, but the studio had not counted on Tatum becoming a major film star. The re-worked version will more than likely push his character to the forefront.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be released on March 29, 2013.
