Although the Michigan football program had higher hopes when the season started, the Wolverines will still get a chance to play on New Year's Day when they take on South Carolina in the Outback Bowl. And they'll take the field wearing custom adidas uniforms.
Michigan's all-white Outback Bowl jerseys feature blue sections on the shoulders as well as a blue outline around the maize numbers. And Michigan is the latest school to jump on the matte helmet bandwagon, following Virginia Tech, which wore them in their 13-10 overtime win over Rutgers in the Russell Athletic Bowl.
The helmets and a selection of jerseys will be made available in an auction at MGoBlue.com, with the proceeds going to the U-M Community and University Engagement Office. For athletes and fans of the program, it's a great cause to support, since the Office supports community service initiatives driven by Michigan student-athletes.
