Sony recently filed for a technology patent that suggests they might be moving toward blocking the resale of used games. The new technology would use contact-less RF tags to associate individual games with a specific user account. So, once a game is played, any attempts to play it via another user's account will be rejected. The gaming arm of the company hasn't officially stated their intentions with the new technology; however, the patent filing points out the technology's benefit for developers who do not receive revenue from second-hand sales.
