This play (at 1:24 in the video) shows off all of Kaepernick’s abilities in one succinct 5-second highlight. After taking the snap, Kaepernick avoids a sack by slithering out of the grip of a Saints defensive end, then sprints to the right sideline and fires a bullet on the run to Michael Crabtree, who takes the ball down to the 15 yard line. NFL defenses are quickly discovering that when you’ve got a guy who can eliminate pressure with his legs and then fire an accurate fastball on the move, there’s not much you can do.
