50-Yard Touchdown Run Against Miami
Colin Kaepernick’s cannon-like right arm is what got him originally drafted by the Chicago Cubs. His running ability has been unappreciated. The 6’7” quarterback can look a bit comical running the ball (sort of like a gazelle with legs that are a bit too big for its body), but that doesn’t mean he’s not lightning quick. Against the Miami Dolphins in Week 14, Kaepernick faked the handoff to running back Frank Gore, then exploded 50 yards down the field for a touchdown, untouched. It put the rest of the NFL on notice that his running was going undefended.
For a guy who was considered a developmental quarterback coming out of college, Colin Kaepernick is having quite a year. When the San Francisco 49ers lost starting quarterback Alex Smith to a concussion in Week 10, Kaepernick slid right in and never gave the starting job back. With his ridiculous combination of accuracy, speed and arm strength, the Nevada product is changing the quarterback position, and he has his team one game away from the Super Bowl. Here are five of his best moments from the 2012 season.
