A Living Legend: Benjamin N. Cardozo's Coach Ron Naclerio

January 31, 2013

In 1981, former St. John's University basketball standout and Cardozo High School alumnus Ron Naclerio took over as head coach of the Cardozo boy's basketball program. After 30 years in the position, Naclerio ranks among the winningest high school basketball coaches of all time with more than 600 career wins. He has turned the Cardozo basketball program into one of New York's finest, sending more than 80 players to Division I programs and three (Royal Ivey, Duane Causwell and Rafer Alston) to the NBA.

During the off-season, Naclerio spends his time working out NBA players like Ron Artest, Lamar Odom, Elton Brand and Joakim Noah.

STACK recently sat down with Naclerio and his players to learn what makes the famous coach tick. Watch the video above to meet the living legend for yourself.
