On the heels of Sony's unveiling of its next generation console, the PlayStation 4, it seems that Microsoft is now ready to show the world what they have in store for the Xbox.
U.S. Techs, a company that has worked with Microsoft on event sites for the company's E3 briefing last year and the 2013 Hosting Summit, has registered a new domain called XboxEvent.com. Although the registration could be for another purpose, it seems unlikely that Microsoft would tease fans so soon after the PS4 reveal with anything other than the promise of a next-generation Xbox console.
When asked, the company refused to reveal information about the website. "Microsoft often acquires various domain names as part of its ongoing business strategy, but beyond that we have no comment," a Microsoft spokesperson told IGN.
Other sources tell IGN that the press event is expected to occur some time in April, two months before the annual industry games show.
Let the speculation begin! Will the gaming giant, unlike its competitor, actually show fans the console during its unveiling? What will it be called? Fans have long referred to it as the 720, but rumors suggest it could be titled Xbox Infinity. Will it be able to compete with the PS4 in terms of specifications? How many coins will fans have to shell out to pick one up? And will the ogre of gamers' use of pre-owned games rear its ugly head again or suffer another defeat?
