Rap collided with sports this past week as both Lil Wayne and Wale took on the NBA. Wiz Khalifa's son was born, and Kanye got caught up (once again) in being Kanye.
Lil Wayne aired out his feelings during an All-Star Weekend rant directed at the NBA, specifically the Miami Heat. The rapper accused the Florida team of having him banned from future NBA events and took aim at the team's three superstars—LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh—in an expletive-filled rant. He also claimed to have had relations with Bosh's wife in the past, dubbing himself "the new 2Pac."
Lil Wayne has since apologized to the City of Miami and retracted the insults he spewed at LeBron James; but he hasn't commented on his thoughts on Wade and Bosh. You can find the rant on YouTube.
Last week, Wale made his presence known at the Washington Wizards home game against the Raptors, heckling Toronto star Rudy Guy from his courtside seat. He eventually got a response from the basketball player and commentators, who poked fun at his music career by referring to him as a "local rapper."
"A fan heckling him and supposedly this fan is a well-known rapper. Wall-ay. Locally, here," said one of the commentators. "Wale is inspiring. I'm sure somebody on Twitter could tell me if they exactly had ever heard of Wale. He's not Drake, that's for sure."
Instead of shrugging off the slight, the Maybach Music rapper left his seat and confronted the commentators. Watch Rudy's reaction to Wale in the following video:
Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose welcomed their first child, a baby boy, into the world on Feb. 21, three days ahead of her due date. The proud parents named the baby Sebastian Taylor Thomaz, and Wiz revealed a nickname he's already selected for the lad: The Bash. The rapper plans to stay close to home in the coming months in order to lend support to his son and fiancé.
It's no longer a surprise when Kanye West goes on a random tirade blaming others for any disappointment that darkens his privileged life. But nonetheless, the rapper has once again made a fool of himself. His most recent rant took place during his performance at London's Hammersmith Apollo, where he called out long-time collaborator and friend Jay-Z for working with singer Justin Timberlake. He begins by saying, "I got love for HOV," then ends the sentence by mocking his friend's recent collab with JT. But ain't f***in' with that 'Suit & Tie,'" said the Chi-town rapper during his performance.
Don't worry, Kanye's on-stage meltdown was recorded! Watch it on Youtube.
