The south represents! Travis Porter, Briana Perry and Gucci Mane all released mixtapes this week. (Check out last week's rap news rundown.)
Travis Porter released their new mixtape, Mr. Porter, on March 5. The Atlanta-based trio, Ali, Quez and Strap, announced the project via a YouTube trailer last week. DJ Tekniks, DJ Self and DJ Ill Will will host the affair. Known for their club-friendly hits like "Go Shorty Go" and "Make It Rain," the group will likely pack the freebie with bass-heavy, summer-ready tracks. Be sure to check out the mixtape's lead single, "9 times out of 10," featuring California rapper YG.
Poe Boy rapper Brianna Perry will drop her latest free project, Symphony No. 9: the B Collection, toward the end of the week. The Miami-based femcee enlisted long-time collaborator Trina along with Teyana Taylor, Future, Pusha T, French Montana, T.Pain and singers Ray J and Trey Songz. Mike Will, HitBoy and Lamb contributed to the beats. If you can't wait, several of the songs featured on the 16-track collection have already hit the internet. Ask Google.
Two of Atlanta's foremost authorities on trap music, Gucci Mane and Young Scooter, recently collaborated on a full mixtape. Helping the Brick Squad duo are guests Waka Flocka Flame, Wale and Big Bank Black, among others. DJ Scream and DJ Spinz host the project, which includes production from the likes of Sonny Digital, Drumma Boy and Mike Will. Gucci has been on a tear recently, releasing lots of material. Just last month he dropped Trap God 2.
