The latest Iron Man 3 trailer debuted this week. Besides providing more information on The Mandarin, the film's bad guy, it includes a number of reveals that are likely to send fans of the franchise into a tizzy.
The clip starts with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) still reeling from the effects of his near death experience in The Avengers. Though happy to be a super hero, Stark is less than thrilled to be constantly placing his life, and the lives of those he loves, in mortal danger.
The Mandarin, portrayed by Ben Kingsley), has waged war against the United States. He attacks an airplane in mid-air, leaving Stark struggling to save its passengers. When the billionaire philanthropist appears uninterested in an all-out bout, the Mandarin antagonizes him by destroying his home and nearly killing everyone inside, including Pepper Potts (played by Gwyneth Paltrow).
Stark seeks revenege on the Mandarin by deploying an Iron Man army—a team of unmanned robotic suits. Fans had long suspected that the army would make its debut in this film, and the trailer confirms it.
Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, John Favreau and several others will appear in the film. Paul Bettany will return as the voice of Jarvis.
Iron Man 3 hits theaters on May 3 in 3D and IMAX 3D.
