Brad Pitt vs. Zombies on a Plane in the New 'World War Z' Trailer

Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for their upcoming zombie thriller, World War Z, starring Brad Pitt.
The new clip plays up the threat of an unidentified contagion that seems to turn humans into zombies. At the beginning of the trailer, Brad Pitt, playing a United Nations employee named Gerry Lane, and his on-screen family start a seemingly normal day eating breakfast and watching the news. What follows promises a globe-trotting adventure filled with epic attacks, fast zombies and a mid-air showdown. The film treats the zombie apocalypse like the spread of a disease, almost like a take on the 1995 movies Outbreak and Twelve Monkeys. Only here, people aren't dying from some virus in a monkey, they're becoming un-dead.
What separates this potential blockbuster from its predecessors is its budget. Numerous re-shoots and delays have pushed the movie's budget past $170 million, making it by far the costliest "pandemic movie."
World War Z is based on the 2006 novel of the same name by Max Brooks. The book describes the zombie apocalypse through accounts from individuals across the globe. According to Pitt during a recent LA screening of the movie, he and director Marc Forster aimed to tackle the film in a way that would allow fans to see the tragedy on a global level.
World War Z will hit theaters on June 23, 2013. Pitt has hinted at the possibility of turning it into a trilogy if it performs well at the box office.
