The second trailer for the upcoming heist flick, Now You See Me, was released late last week. The film has flown under the radar as anticipation for Iron Man 3 (watch the trailer) reaches a zenith. But Now You See Me features a solid cast and a fairly original concept. The trailer does an excellent job of pulling at the heart strings of the downtrodden, adding lots of impressive stunts to keep the mood light.
Think of it as an altruistic magician edition of 2001's Ocean's 11. A group of magicians known as the Four Horsemen goes rogue, stealing millions from the corrupt and giving it to members of their audiences. At one point, they steal $140 million from an overseas bank. FBI Agent Dylan Hobbs, portrayed by The Avengers' Mark Ruffalo, is tasked with taking them down before they can pull off their biggest stunt to date.
But Hobbs has a hard time determining what is real and what is trickery and whom he can trust. Clearly the group is working with someone else. Could it be Hobbs's new partner, attractive Interpol agent Alma Vargas (Melanie Laurent) or consultant/magic debunker Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman)?
Michael Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg) leads the group of misfits, which includes Jack (Dave Franco), Merritt Osbourne (Woody Harrelson) and Henley (Isla Fisher). The heist flick is directed by Louis Leterrier, known for his work on the first two installments of the Transporter series.
Now You See Me will hit the silver screen on May 31.
