‘Transformers 4’ Title Revealed; Dinobots Confirmed?
The title of the forthcoming Transformers sequel was revealed this week when Paramount unveiled the latest teaser poster. Transformers: Age of Extinction will hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
The reveal points to the Dinobots playing a role in the plot. They were hinted at early on, but producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura apparently confirmed their existence during a recent interview with Beijing News. His comments were translated from Chinese, so we are a little hesitant to call it a fact yet.
“I cannot disclose the specifics, but you can be sure that the arrival of the Dinobots will give the audience a lot to be excited about,” said the exec. “The world’s coolest, most exciting cars will appear in the film, including Chinese vehicles, so whether you are a car enthusiast or not, it will be a feast for the eyes.”
No official word yet on whether we will meet the entire Dinobots group: Grimlock, Slag, Sludge, Snarl and Swoop. But earlier this year, JoBlo reported that Grimlock and Swoop will make appearances with Optimus Prime and Bumblebee.
Another widely circulated theory is that the title is a nod to Megatron’s resurrection as Galvatron under the direction of Unicron, the suspected overarching villain of the series. The theory doesn’t preclude the Dinobots’ involvement, but it does make some sense, because fans have long suspected that Unicron will be involved.
