5 of the Most Painful Intentional Groin Shots In Pro Sports History

STACK compiles five incidents involving nasty shots below the belt.

Serge Ibaka and Blake Griffin

A shot to the groin is something all male athletes try hard to avoid. It's a painful experience, to say the least.

Unfortunately, some athletes know this pain better than others. Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams has experienced it in each of the last two games of the Western Conference Finals. Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green has nailed him twice below the belt.

NFL players such as Ndamukong Suh have also inflicted this pain upon their fellow athletes. The incidents happen regularly, so players should keep their heads on a swivel to spot approaching trouble.

1. Ndamukong Suh Nails Matt Schaub on Thanksgiving 2012

Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is considered one of the dirtiest players in the NFL. During a Decemner 2014 game, he stomped on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers' ankle. But that wasn't nearly as bad as his groin shot to Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub during a 2012 Thanksgiving Day game, which the Texans won 34-31. As Suh went for Schaub, he was grabbed by a Texans offensive lineman. As he fell, he stuck out his leg to catch Schaub in his most sensitive area.

2. Serge Ibaka Punches Blake Griffin During Game 4 of the 2014 Western Conference Semifinals

Thunder big man Serge Ibaka isn't the first person fans think of when discussing dirty players. He seems like a fairly genial person, and though he blocks opponents' shots with great force, he channels his aggression into making basketball plays. Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin, however, received a different sort of treatment from the Thunder forward. During a March 2013 game against the Clippers, Ibaka got Griffin in the groin. It didn't appear to be blatant. But in Game 4 of the 2014 Western Conference Semifinals, Ibaka laid a punch to the same area that clearly seemed intentional.

3. Draymond Green Strikes Steven Adams in Game 3 of Western Conference Finals

On Sunday night, Warriors star Draymond Green struck Steven Adams so hard he received a flagrant-1 foul. The Warriors lost the game, 133-105, going down 2-1 in the series. But Green's kick on Adams sent shockwaves throughout the NBA, as many media personalities debate whether the Warriors' star should be suspended for his actions.

4. Nicolas Batum Throws Fist Near Spanish Player Juan Carlos Navarro's Midsection

Who would've thought that Charlotte Hornets guard Nicolas Batum could direct ill will toward another player? Well, he certainly did during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. In a game against Spain, the French guard threw his fist near Spanish player Juan Carlos Navarro's midsection.

5. Aldon Smith Strikes RG3 with Leg to Groin on Monday Night Football

Much like Green struck Adams with his leg, former San Francisco 49ers outside linebacker struck then-Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III where the sun doesn't shine. The two teams were playing in a Monday Night Football game in November 2013, and as Smith rushed the Redskins' line, he snuck in a small hit to the groin of the Redskins quarterback.
