For an athlete, their eyes are everything.

Vision is a gift, and it's one athletes simply cannot take for granted. It doesn't matter how strong, fast or technically sound you become—if you can't see what's going on around you, there's a ceiling on your potential. But addressing poor eyesight can be tricky for athletes. Glasses don't make sense in many sports, and contact lenses bring along issues of comfort and convenience.

"Any athlete who has played contact sports knows that glasses have no place on the field. Even contact lenses can present issues during vigorous activity – dirt under the lens, the lens becoming displaced or falling out completely," states the UCLA Stein Eye Institute. That's exactly why many optically challenged athletes opt for a different fix—LASIK. Short for "laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis," LASIK is a procedure that utilizes an excimer laser to reshape the cornea and provide a permanent fix for poor vision. Not only is LASIK a more comfortable and convenient option for many people, but it can also potentially enhance vision better than glasses or contacts due to its high level of precision. This is exactly why so many professional athletes opt for LASIK.

While the following seven athletes may not have suddenly been gifted with "super vision" after LASIK, the results they produced in the season immediately following the procedure speaks volumes.
