Eddie Lacy Has a Plan to Drop His Extra Weight and Get Back Into NFL Shape

What will Green Bay RB Eddie Lacy do to get back in shape for next season?

In each of his first two seasons as a pro, Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy eclipsed 1,000 yards. Not many NFL running backs do that. But this year told a different story, as Lacy only rushed for 758 yards.

Many fans, and even his coach, blamed this sub-par performance on Lacy's weight gain. "He cannot play at the weight he was at this year," Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said.

Want proof that Lacy was out of shape? During a playoff game against the Arizona Cardinals, he took a handoff and gained 60 yards. You might applaud that performance until you actually watch it. It's clear that Lacy slowed down significantly toward the end. If he had been in better shape, he likely would have scored.

So what is Lacy planning to do to get back in shape? P90X. Tony Horton, creator of the 90-day workout, reached out to Lacy and offered to help him get ready for next season. It seems that Lacy likes the idea. Reports indicate that his reps are in talks with Horton about getting together in the off-season.

Hopefully, this will work and Lacy can keep his job as a starter in the Packers' backfield. We'll see on the first day of training camp.
