Downing H2O throughout the day is one wise way to keep our bodies hydrated. However, according to Leslie Bonci, the Pittsburgh Steelers nutrition consultant, "It's not just what we drink, it's how we drink." When your muscles need to be hydrated quickly, especially during practices, workouts and competition, gulp down the drinks. "When fluids are gulped, they are more quickly absorbed into your muscles, precisely where they need to be," Bonci says. "But, its something athletes need to train their guts to get used to."
