For an athlete, being in great shape is one of the most important factors in a successful long-lasting career. LeBron James, Serena Williams and Floyd Mayweather make taking care of their bodies a priority, and that is part of why they have been so successful.

James has been playing professional basketball since he finished high school in 2003. Coming into the NBA, he was listed at 240 pounds. According to The Evolution of Eight Professional Athletes, his heaviest weight was 270 pounds. During the summer of 2014, James followed a 67-day diet that excluded sugar, dairy and carbohydrates, and he lost "a ton of weight."

One of the best tennis players ever, Serena Williams has won 21 Grand Slam titles, the third most of any tennis player. Now in her 30's, Williams is doing more to stay in shape, like changing her diet to all-natural foods.

Floyd Mayweather is 49-0 as a boxer. And he has won championship belts in five different weight classes—130, 135, 140, 147 and 154 pounds. Winning all of those belts is an incredible achievement, but his ability to move around so many weight classes and win consistently is equally impressive.
