About All That 'Practice': New Documentary 'Iverson' Explains It All
Yesterday, the Tribeca Film Festival screened the world premier of Iverson, a documentary that takes an in-depth look at 11-time NBA All-Star Allen Iverson.
In the clip below, the Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade weighs in on Iverson, arguably the most popular Philadelphia 76er in history: "He's an icon around the world . . . one of the greatest who's ever played professional sports," says Wade.
The film explores Iverson's path to the pros, his career-defining moments, his impact on the league and the league's influence on his personal life.
In an interview with Tom Joyner of blackamericaweb, AI says the film addresses the media's problematic perception of him—especially the big brouhaha over his comments on "practice." AI recalls, "You know, they only played that sound bite, they didn't play why I said it that many times and why I was so frustrated about it."
The documentary tells the whole story from Iverson's perspective. New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony adds, "He came in [to the league] his style, his way, [and] he ain't care what nobody say."
