LeBron James to Conquer Hollywood

LeBron James already has one foot in the entertainment business, and he's just getting started.

LeBron James recently revealed plans to build a Hollywood empire. The global basketball icon and endorsement king is no stranger to show business. Not only has he guest-starred in a number of TV shows and documentaries, but James has also enjoyed success with his company, Spring Hill Productions, poignantly named after the housing project where he lived as a child.

Among the banner's digital and television projects are the Disney sports series Becoming; a scripted Starz dramedy about a newly famous basketball player titled Survivor's Remorse; and the reality show Uninterrupted, airing on Turner's digital platform. However, it seems the NBA star is just getting started. His new projects include a pilot for a trivia game show on NBC and an appearance in the Judd Apatow comedy film Trainwreck, starring Bill Hader and Amy Schumer.

Reports also suggest that James is negotiating to do a show on CNBC about transforming distressed businesses. And, he is in talks with NBC Universal's Esquire Network to develop what is described as a "bucket list" series featuring himself.

About working with James on Trainwreck, Apatow told The Hollywood Reporter, "We tested the movie, and he gets laughter as big as anyone. The only fear you ever have with people of his stature is whether or not they're game to have fun and take chances. LeBron is a very strong actor, and he has a fantastic sense of humor. We did a lot of improvisation, and he was really good at it. As a result, it's a really fun, wild, slightly strange performance that really scores."

Considering that the careers of most basketball players tend to be relatively short, it makes sense for the 30-year-old James to expand his horizons. Commenting on the subject, the King remarked, "I look at some of my peers, Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett, guys I've looked up to my whole career, and they're almost done with their careers. So you think about it for sure. You know at some point that will be you."
