New York Jets Rookies Do 'Dizzy Bat' Circles to Get Jazzed for Practice

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan had his rookies spinning in circles with their foreheads touching the handle of a baseball bat. The players first had to sprint 10 yards, spin as many as 10 times, and run back. "Just trying to get the energy level boosted up," Ryan said. "Get guys smiling, laughing and feeling good. Now you are ready to work. It's just like in the classroom: You want to get people to smile; you get more out of them when they are attentive. I thought we would break it up just a little bit and start with that drill."

If you watch the full video on NFL.com, you'll see that it's all in fun, but when you think about it, the drill seems like not at all a bad way to prepare for the sometimes dizzying effects of football battles in the trenches.
