NFL Combine athletes put up ridiculous numbers in the Bench Press test. Some of the bigger athletes can do over 40 reps of 225 pounds. To many of you out there, this may seem inconceivable. Benching 225 even a few times can be quite an accomplishment.
Combine athletes dedicate a ton of time and effort to prepare for this test. They're able to achieve their crazy-high numbers with a combination of lifting heavy weights and performing high-rep work with lighter weight to build their strength and muscular endurance. There's a high probability these athletes will never again bench as much in their careers.
The results are impressive. But the question is: How do they stack up against bodybuilders? The coaches at TEST Football Academy decided to find out with a max rep 315-pound test.
TEST Football Academy is a football training facility located in Martinsville, New Jersey. Since 1992, they've been helping youth, high school, collegiate and pro football players improve their skills. And they train athletes for the NFL Combine.
They selected their strongest Combine bencher to go head-to-head against an Inner Armour bodybuilder.
Who will reign supreme? A ridiculously strong man who primarily trains to become a better athlete and who focuses on the Bench Press for a specific event? Or a bodybuilder with a barrel chest who clearly spends a lot of time on the Bench Press?
