Rap News Rundown: Tory Lanez, Kidd Kidd, Future, Lil Wayne

Don't miss this edition of Rap News Rundown, featuring Tory Lanez, Kidd Kidd, Future and Lil Wayne.

Tory Lanez Talks Drake Diss

Drake put everyone in the rap game on notice about his return to the top of the charts with his latest single "Summer Sixteen." On the track, he aimed some jabs at Meek Mill and President Obama, who in a recent interview called Kendrick Lamar a better rapper. Meek has already replied with a follow-up to his 4/4 EP series, and Obama (hopefully) has better things to do. But at least one target is confused as to why he was called out: fellow Canadian rapper Tory Lanez told Revolt he isn't sure what made Drake send a subliminal in his direction.

"I don't know what that man has against me," said Tory. "I'm getting money over here. I'm good, I'm young, I'm finally in a position to feed my family, please don't take that away from me."

He then added, "I'm a f***ing Drake fan. Drake could diss me 20,000 times and I would never diss him."

Drake once rapped that artists who diss him would never get a reply; so comments to the contrary aside, maybe we should be counting down the days until Lanez releases an anti-Drake anthem.

Kidd Kidd Cops to Harassment

Kidd Kidd is no longer facing assault charges stemming from a confrontation with his ex-girlfriend Maurita Robinson last July. The G-Unit rapper reached a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to harassment. He also completed a batterer's program. "We're glad the DA's office saw it the way we did, that this should not result in a criminal record," said the rapper's attorney Scott Leemon.

Robinson accused him of choking her and shoving her into a dresser at a Manhattan hotel. Kidd Kidd still faces similar charges from Robinson in New Orleans.

Future & Ciara Headed To Court Over Slander

Former lovers often end up publicly bashing each other in interviews after their relationship falls apart. However, singer Ciara isn't willing to allow her former boyfriend Future, the father of her child, to trash her reputation. She filed a libel suit against the 32-year-old in Georgia, accusing him of causing her "emotional distress, embarrassment, humiliation, stress, anger, mental pain and suffering."

Tension between the two escalated shortly after photos appeared online of Baby Future with the singer's new boyfriend, NFL quarterback Russell Wilson. Shortly thereafter, the Atlanta-based rapper took to Twitter and accused her of keeping their child away from him and having "control problems."

Ciara and her legal team sent a request to the rapper to delete those tweets and asked him to post an apology. So far, he has not taken the messages down. Ciara is asking for $15 million in damages and $250,000 to cover her legal fees. She also wants a public apology from the rapper and a promise to make no further comments about their private lives.

Lil Wayne Racks Up Another Tax Lien

According to the Jasmine Brand, Wayne's life away from Cash Money looks eerily similar to his life with Cash Money. The rapper has racked up an impressive list of tax liens in recent years. His latest stems from 2014, a tab totaling more than $865,000. Combined with his previous liens, Weezy now owes more than $12.1 million to Uncle Sam.

The Young Money leader's $50 million lawsuit with his recording home may help put a dent in his ever-growing debt. However, there appears to be no resolution in sight, and more companies are filing lawsuits against him in an effort to recoup their funds. Thus far, his team hasn't commented on his money troubles.
