Watch Shaun White's Perfect Snowboard Superpipe Run
Shaun White was spectacular in winning his 12th Winter X Games gold medal, posting the only perfect score ever achieved on the Snowboard Superpipe. Watch White’s historic run (from Sunday, Jan. 29, below), including his incredible new frontside double cork 1260.
Many fans doubted White would even compete in the Superpipe after he was forced to pull out of the Slopestyle event earlier in the week. But he earned a 94.00 in his first run, good enough to win the competition. Then, after wiping out on his second run, instead of riding down the pipe with his hands held high for a victory lap, White put on a show for the ages.
Starting his third run with an 18-foot backside air, White followed with a frontside double cork 1080, a Cab double cork 1080 and a frontside stalefish 540. Saving the best for last, he ended with the first back-to-back double cork in Winter X Games history.
White’s perfect run put a giant exclamation mark on an emotional X Games, one dedicated to the memory of freestyle skier Sarah Burke, who passed away on Jan. 19, ten days after suffering a tragic injury on a superpipe practice run.
