The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a standardized test that high school students take some time between their sophomore and senior years. Here's what you need to know about the test.

Why Should I Care?

The ASVAB can be used to help you decide on a career path. The U.S. military uses it to place recruits in specialized jobs. Get a low score, and your military options are limited. Although you can retake the test when you enlist, scoring well in high school will open up more career opportunities.

What Does It Test?

The test includes general sections on science, math and vocabulary, as well as more technical areas like auto mechanics and electronics.

How Should I Study?

Take a practice test online to determine your strengths and weaknesses. Invest in an ASVAB prep program and focus on areas where you need the most help.
