Russell Westbrook may be the most explosive player the game of basketball has ever seen.

His ability to reach top speed almost instantaneously before attacking the rim with reckless abandon makes him the most entertaining player in the NBA.

Westbrook's stellar conditioning also allows him to utilize his supersonic speed more often than any other player, as the 2017 MVP is basketball's equivalent of the Energizer Bunny.

His 2.51 miles traveled per game last season ranked as the 10th-most in the NBA.

Westbrook's speed and conditioning was in part developed by frequent trips to Sand Dune Park in Manhattan Beach, California during his adolescence.

There, he'd tackle a sandy mountain which measures 270 feet from bottom to top and has an average incline of 27.7 degrees.

Westbrook's excellent speed and stamina also plays a key role in his signature stat—the triple-double. Westbrook holds the NBA record for most triple-doubles in a season with 42.

"He is the (Mike) Tyson of basketball," NBA legend Jason Kidd once told ESPN of Westbrook. "When the bell rings, he's coming for you. Whenever he's on the floor, he plays at one speed, and that's fast and hard."

Westbrook lives by the personal motto "Why Not?", a fitting slogan for a player who is as aggressive and decisive as the league has ever seen.
