Within the last week, we've gotten another Tomb Raider DLC, the return of Manhunt and more news on Bethesda's Wolfenstein.
Tomb Raider Multiplayer DLC Released
Square Enix released a new multiplayer DLC for Tomb Raider last week. The content unveils new maps and two new levels: "Lost Fleet," a massive beached ship that doubles as a battleground, and "Himiko's Cradle," a sacred mountain shrine. The DLC is available on Xbox Live, PSN and Stream and costs $3.99 or 320 Microsoft points.
Manhunt Arrives on PSN
Rockstar's Manhunt got re-introduced to the PlayStation Network this week. Gamers can find it in the PS2 Classics section for $10. The highly controversial and ultra-violent game makes its brother, Grand Theft Auto, look like child's play. It was the subject of a lot of criticism when it was first introduced in November 2003.
For those who need a refresher course: Manhunt tells the story of James Earl Cash, a prison inmate on death row. Instead of being executed, he's forced to participate in various plots set up by snuff film impresario Lionel Starkweather. Cash dispatches his enemies, each twisted in his own way, using stealth and a variety of weapons.
On a similar note, Rockstar is also bringing The Warriors to PSN in the near future.
Wolfenstein: The New Order Sticking With Single-Player
At a time when most games are being re-worked to provide a multiplayer experience, Bethesda has announced that the next Wolfenstein will be a single-player game. Talking with Gamespot, MachineGame's creative director Jens Matthies defended the move, noting that the team feels a responsibility to get the single-player mode right, because the game is "such a huge part of video game legacy."
"As fans of the series, working on this game is an honor, and our team is driven to create an unforgettable action-adventure experience that will make FPS fans proud," promised Matthies.
Wolfenstein: The New Order will be available via PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in late fall or early winter. It will be the first installment in the series since 2009. Check out the trailer below.
