Sports Psych

With the knowledge that sports performance is influenced as much by psychological as by physical factors, athletes at nearly all levels of competition engage in mental training. Sport psychology skills are used to address performance-related issues regarding preparation, motivation, thought patterns, focus and confidence. Psychological skill training can include formulating and executing strategies related to goal setting, relaxation, imagery and self-talk—all major components of mental acuity in sports. Sport psychology is instrumental in several aspects of performance, including recovery from injury, controlling stressful situations, pre-game routines and rituals, pre-game nerves and anxiety, dealing with losses, and managing success and fame. Learn about latest sport psychology strategies from the nation’s top experts and elite athletes.
