View With Your Crew: “Warm Bodies”
The new zombie flick, Warm Bodies, hits theaters on Feb 1. Although the film takes place during a zombie epidemic, it offers a fresh take on the reanimated corpse theme.
A normal zombie named R, played by Nicholas Hoult, spends his days mindlessly wandering around a trashed airport terminal alongside fellow mutants. One day, R’s circumstances drastically change when he rescues a human survivor of the apocalypse, Julie (Teresa Palmer), from a zombie attack.
As mind-blowing as it may be, a romance develops between R and the beautiful Julie. The more time R spends with Julie, the more human he becomes. Could there be hope for the other zombies?
One of the many obstacles that threaten R and Julie’s relationship is the fact that her father, General Grigio (John Malkovich) is a “military leader charged with eradicating the walking dead,” according to Fandango. R and Julie struggle not only to stay together, but to peacefully reunite their two very different worlds.
Compared to other zombie movies, the tone is light, and humor plays a big part. But don’t worry, there’s plenty of action and gore for more traditional fans of the genre. Based on the Isaac Marion novel, the film is directed by Jonathan Levine and stars Rob Corddry, Dave Franco and Analeigh Tipton.
