Marques Colston, wide receiver for New Orleans Saints, performs the single leg hurtles to improve lower body extension. The triple extension includes the ball of the foot, knee extension and hip extension.

Lynn Goff: The focus was their trail leg making sure one, that they were up on the ball of their foot and hitting what we call triple extension. Ball of the foot, knee extended, hip extended. That was the main focus of that one was to hit that triple extension on the trail leg.
Basically what I do is I set up six hurtles and I cue them to do skipping over the hurtles with only one leg. So their trail leg needs to remain behind them slightly to allow for balance and it's teaching them that glute activation or that triple extension. The hurtles were probably about between 12 and 18 inches depending on the length of the legs. These guys are tall guys so we had them closer to 18 inches apart. Three sets each side. Same thing, they went through and they would just walk back an active recovery. So again it was about a 10 to 15 second rest period in between.
