About the Video
The Barbell Box Lunge is used to develop quad and glute strength as well as hip flexibility. For the exercise, Stallings places two 75-pound dumbbells behind an eight-inch box to keep it from moving during the exercise. With the barbell on his back, Stallings takes a big step and lands on the box with his foot flat. Upon landing with his foot on the box, Stallings sinks his hips into the box while keeping his back leg fully extended and as straight as possible. He will push from the heel of his foot to drive off the box and return to start position, repeating the exercise for three sets of five reps for each leg.
