Sergeant Zachary Rainey of the Indiana National Guard discusses the importance of teamwork and leadership at the 2012 NFL 7-on-7 presented by the National Guard.
Rainey explained that teamwork is equally important to victory on the battle field or on the gridiron. "In the National Guard, Army or military in general, you have to have a team to be one unit. Without that one unit, the mission or the job cannot be done," adds Rainey. "It goes the same with football. If you don't have one team and one heartbeat, you won't be able to win on the field and also off the field."
SGT Rainey and the other Guardsmen in attendance stressed the importance of being a leader on and off the field. "Being a leader takes a lot of responsibly, duty and disciple," says Rainey. This helps guide teams to victory, keeps players accountable and boosts morale.
