Henrik Zetterberg, NHL All-Star forward, performs an Explosive Single-Leg series to build single-leg strength, power and stability and improve his skating speed. The more balanced your leg strength is, the easier it is to quickly change direction and absorb hits from different angles. Zetterberg's Single-Leg Squat was remarkable, as he demonstrated excellent depth and balance during the exercise. Follow the directions below to make sure you're performing the exercises in a proper manner:

Explosive Step-Up

- Use lightweight dumbbells
- Stomp on box to initiate movement
- Drive upward as explosively as possible
- Sets/Reps: 3-4x5-8 each leg

Single-Leg Squat

- Keep arms straight in front of chest for balance
- Lower until thigh is parallel to ground
- Keep knee behind toes and in line with ankle
- Maintain upright posture - Sets/Reps: 3-4x5-8 each leg
