Henrik Zetterberg, NHL All-Star forward, performs a plyometric series to improve his explosive skating power. Check out the crazy advanced Single-Leg Lateral Squat Box Jump to Single-Leg Squat Jump at the end of the video. As the name implies, this exercise is not for beginners. Follow the directions below to make sure you're performing the exercises in a proper manner:
Concentric Box Jump
- Start in squat position
- Keep knees, hips and ankles in line
- Land softly on box

Sets/Reps: 3-4x5-6
Single-Leg Box Jump
- Use six- to 12-inch box
- Jump on and off box on single leg
- Land softly in athletic posture

Sets/Reps: 3-4x5-6 each leg
Single-Leg Lateral Box Jump
- Keep back straight and chest up
- Keep knee behind toes and in line with ankle
- Land softly and find balance before performing next movement
- Only appropriate for advanced athletes
