About the Video
In the fifth installment of STACK's Behind the Highlights video series, Brek Shea explains how he stole the ball from a Toronto player at midfield and then started a fast-break opportunity toward his opponent's goal. After a quick 1-2 pass, Brek had the ball in the open field, and the defense continued to back off. At that point, Brek decided to fire a shot from more than 20 yards out and found the corner of the net to break the second-half 0-0 tie.
This goal turned out to be a crucial gamewinner against Toronto and helped accelerate Brek's notoriety as one of the most explosive shooters in the MLS.
Brek goes on the explain how his workouts helped him develope the strength and shooting power necessary to drive the ball into the goal from so far away. Check out his exercise videos listed below to learn how to develop the same leg, hip, core and upper-body strength needed to fire powerful shots on goal:
-Resisted Knee Drives
-Push-Up to T
-Cable Rotational Chops
Finally, Brek explains how he no longer eats junk food during the week leading up to games. Instead, he eats healthy food, such as vegetables and grilled chicken, as well as high amounts of carbohydrates for energy. Additionally, he makes sure to hydrate all week, and especially during games, so that he can last all game long in the Texas heat.
