David Beckham improves his core and leg strength by performing circles with his legs while holding a soccer ball in between them. This workout engages the core and the legs by lifting the ball between the feet and balancing with the upper body. The object is to complete smooth circles.
John Ireland: Great exercise, tough exercise cause even without holding a ball. But again, just the whole torso working that connecting of upper body and legs you're getting your core section working. Getting on your back, arms by your side to help support your body, ball between your feet and you're making a circle. With younger athletes I always tell them that a circle is a round object cause they seem to make it all jagged and it's not quite smooth but we give them a hard time about that.
Ball between feet, nice circle and they go so many in one direction and then come back the other way and finish that off. With a younger athlete it would be alright to maybe rest after going in one direction first, but it offers more of a challenge if you can go one way and then come back without rest. On that one the guys did today eight on each side. So it was eight circles in one direction, eight circles back the other way.
