Training for the 100-Meter Dash is no easy feat. Explosive training
and aggressive speed workouts are critical for a sprinter's ability to get faster.
First 30 Meters
The race is usually won within the first 30 meters, or first 13 steps.
In order to maximize winning potential, sprinters should focus training on the first 30 yards of the race. It is important for track
athletes to focus on proper sprint mechanics, and proper force application while sprinting. Use the following exercise, performed by Martin, to get faster in the first 30 meters.
8 x 30 meters + 250 meter (for speed endurance)
High Knee Drills -- Imitate a sprinter's front side mechanics
Lunges -- Lower body strength training
