Jason Kidd joins Nash as another sublime point guard whose first love was "the beautiful game."
Kidd didn't start playing basketball until the third grade, with the impetus being that his best friend wanted to try the sport.
Kidd figured he might as well try it with him.
While he continued to play soccer through middle school, he eventually had to give up his first love due to scheduling conflicts with basketball.
"At some point, I had to make a decision.
Because basketball and soccer were starting to clash … I guess (I chose basketball) because my friends in basketball were cooler, I don't know.
I decided to play basketball," Kidd states in a video for JasonKidd.com.
One NBA championship and 10 NBA All-Star selections later, it's safe to say he made the right choice.
